Many styles flow from the prolific city of Tabriz, the eminent Naqsheh with its many lavish designs, some on bases of pure silk, the classic Mahi or 'fish' design, loved by designers for its subtlety, and many hundreds of other patterns.

With great refinement, Nain keeps its beiges and assorted blues, every forked leaf, vine and flower outlined in white silk. Infrequently, they stray to a field of rich red, yellow, orange or green, and sometimes use a foundation of pure silk.

Heriz, heavy carpets from the strong Turks, with thick, masculine designs. Woven large, Heriz are low in KPSI but remarkably high in visual delight, with rich brick reds, terra cottas, beiges, browns and blacks.
